Singapore's giving landscape in 2025 reflects a strong and evolving culture of care.
It is heartening to note that volunteering frequency is deepening: 12% volunteered between 12 and 20 times a year, well above the global average of 6%, indicating a healthy level of sustained engagement.
At the heart of this spirit of generosity is intent. People give because they care deeply about the community and want to make a tangible difference. This is reinforced by public confidence: 69% perceive charities to have a positive impact, with trust levels exceeding global averages.
The prominence of social media as a discovery channel shows that people are encountering causes in everyday spaces — creating opportunities for 'always-on' giving, where micro-donations, quick volunteer engagements or the sharing of fundraising campaigns can turn intent into tangible action.
These insights affirm our belief that giving should be part of everyday life. The role of the National Volunteer and Philanthropy Centre in Singapore is to make it simple and accessible for everyone to give by meeting people where they are, especially through digital platforms. We are committed to enhancing public trust by working closely with charities to strengthen board governance and build capabilities in digital fundraising and impact measurement. Ultimately, we aim to make giving pervasive and sustained — nurturing the heart of Singapore through everyday acts of generosity.
