In 2025, Filipino generosity stands out: more Filipinos donated compared to both global and Asian averages — a powerful reflection of the enduring spirit of bayanihan in a country that experiences regular disasters. Giving goes beyond responding to need. It is grounded in malasakit and a deep sense of responsibility for kapwa.
Across giving pathways, charities accounted for the smallest share of total donation value. At the same time, 52% of Filipinos expressed interest in being more engaged in efforts that create positive social change. These highlight opportunities to better connect Filipinos to organized, regular channels of giving. Encouragingly, those who gave through organizations showed stronger support for local charities, signalling a strong foundation of trust to build on.
For the Association of Foundations, these insights reinforce the importance of strengthening the local charity ecosystem to fully harness this generosity. As the country’s largest network of NGOs and foundations, we focus on building the capacities of local charities to ensure regulatory compliance, communicate impact more effectively, and enhance project outcomes. By enabling organizations to operate with greater accountability, clarity, and purpose, we help translate Filipino generosity into sustained impact for Filipino communities.
