Suomalaiset järjestöt arvioivat toimintaympäristönsä kansainvälisesti verrattuna varsin terveeksi, mutta samaan aikaan taloudellinen kestävyys ja kilpailu rahoituksesta nousevat keskeisiksi huolenaiheiksi. Julkisen rahoituksen rooli suomalaisessa järjestörahoituksessa on merkittävä.
Finnish organisations assess their operating environment as quite healthy by international standards, but at the same time, financial sustainability and competition for funding are emerging as key concerns. The role of public funding in Finnish organisation funding is significant. As public funding decreases, the importance of diversifying the funding base and fundraising becomes even more crucial. It is not just about finding new sources of income, but also about strengthening the organisations’ financial resilience in the long term.
Finnish organisations already have several funding sources on average, but the study also shows opportunities to further develop the funding base. In particular, the role of private philanthropy and major donations in Finland is still quite small by international standards. There is also potential in strengthening international funding, for example, through major donors and foundations from other countries and EU funding. Now and in the future, it is important to strengthen both organisations’ capabilities to engage in professional fundraising and the culture of giving in society as a whole. Improving the conditions for donating is above all a shared issue: when people and communities have good opportunities to support things that are important to them, the ability of organisations to do long-term work for the benefit of people, society and the environment is also strengthened.
A particularly positive aspect of the results is that cooperation between organisations in Finland is perceived as significant and smooth. This is a good starting point for developing both effective work and increasing resources, through joint efforts.
